It seems that the cause of all earlier difficulties was that GoBack was still running.  Disable that and everything runs smoothly.  (sigh.  Lee, you were right&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s just a matter of installing new drivers for various things.  The stubbornest pieces of hardware so far, in terms of refusing to re-install, have been the two Win-TV cards.
