Heading home

by Diane Duane

So CopperCon was a blast (as was the heat in Tempe: like a blast furnace…). Met many cool people, and had a super time. Had time to touch base with our fellow GoH, the excellent (and very busy!) Marc Scott Zicree. Ate the terrible Jack In The Box tacos for breakfast twice. (Don’t ask what bizarre turn of personal history has left me fixated on this worst of all possible junk foods.) …And now we’re on our way home.

One happy accident put right something which had been a minor annoyance to both of us: due to some ticket changes, Peter and I had wound up on separate flights on the first homeward leg, PHX-EWR. But when Peter rolled up to his flight at the ungodly hour of 0545, he found that it had been oversold, and compensation and first-class seats on my flight were being offered to those who would voluntarily change to it. So we fly to Newark together after all. Even if he does wind up marooned in first class (poor baby!) and I have to sit back in coach.

No biggie. I’m happy but tired, and can’t wait to get back home to the cats.
