As usual, old Sam Pepys says it best in his great Diary.
“December 25: To church in the morning, and there saw a wedding in the church, which I have not seen many a day: and the young people so merry with one another, and strange to see what delight we married people have to see these poor fools decoyed into our condition, every man and woman gazing and smiling at them…”

God Bless England, God Bless Great Britain, God Bless the United Kingdom, God Bless Ireland, lands of our dreams. God save the Queen!
Are you saying God save the Queen because you are scared of what will follow her?
“God save the Queen” (or King) is the traditional first toast at formal functions in the United Kingdom.
Nobody in the Royal Family scares me. I have the same attitude toward them as expressed by the Third Doctor in “Inferno”, the last story of Jon Pertwee’s first year as The Doctor.
Sorry, was making a rather bad joke about the succession, and Prince Charles taste in architecture. I understand that the Royal Architectural Society still hasn’t forgiven him.
